Hey guys, I wanted to do a GBA LP, so I downloaded Virtual Boy Advance. It comes with a built in recorder, so I decided to record with that. But, it records at 240x160 pixels, and when I try to scale it to fit a whole screen it becomes extremely distorted. Also, when I watch the recording there is a ton of black around the video, so I have to crop and stretch, which distorts the video. Is there any way for the VBA to record at a higher resolution? If not, what (free) program do you recommend to record it?

Thanks in advance.

Fraps seems to work great but you said free. You can always give Camtasia a try.

Yeah, FRAPS would probably be the best bet, but it does cost a little chunk of change.

Camstudio is a free option.

I've also heard that uTipu is pretty decent, so you could look into that.

Wouldn't FRAPs just record the desktop? So you'll need to crop it regardless...

To be a tree your bark has to be worse than your bite.

Nope.  It'll just record your GBA emulator (provided you alter a setting to get it to work).

You might want to try Camtasia Studio 8. It is both a recording & editing software. You can render the videos in 720p. This is the same software I use for my GBA walkthroughs.  Smiley

What I used to use before getting Bandicam was NCH Software's Debut Video Capture Software and the Lagarith Loseless Codec. Since using that, I had to record in .avi, with the LLC, there was no frame skipping and no muss with editing programs (though it was a hassle only recording in 30 FPS).

Both of these are free and can be used in conjunction with one another
