Just out of morbid 4AM curiosity...

Was there ever a time in a video game that came as a sort of unintentional revelation? One that you don't think was the message they were trying to tell you, but you felt / realised it anyway?

For example I feel it every time I go on late night sprees of Minecraft in singleplayer- I digging, and building, digging and building- vast scapes of land that nobody would ever see. Entire cities, entire mechanical structure for my own amusement. No matter the grandness of it all, no matter how intricate my redstone wiring, I felt pride for the design of my creation but it had no value. Despite having the power to terraform the land, you get a feeling for just how... empty it all feels.

Much like a king is without his people, so is a god.

Nothing prompted this line of thought, it just came naturally while I was digging one day.

It doesn't have to be something philosophical, but it can be funny, or just something that made you think. Anything that made you stop even for a moment. I'm curious.

The only revelation I had was something like, "I played 9 and a half hours of Metroid today?  Goddamn, I need a life."

I felt the same way after playing Tales of Vesperia for 7 hours.

Well that was probbably when I was raiding world of warcraft for 6 days a week from 7pm till 2 am and I realised after a half year of doing that that I wasted a year of my life. I failed that year on school and didn't gain anything. It's the price for being in the best guild of the server :O

Damn sure of that, I was never good enough for top tier vanilla raiding myself.

Sometimes, I'm playing and stuff and look at the clock and I see it's late in the night, and I say like "GOTTA SLEEP".

[SPOILER ALERT]
I got really chocked when I found out, on Call of Duty Black Ops, that Viktor Reznov was dead the whole time. I was like "IT CAN'T BE!!!!!"

Realizing I had played Kingdom Hearts II for 12 hours straight when I first got it (and that the intro [Roxas' section] took 3 hours to ocmplete).

When playing Half-Life the revelation hit me that a crowbar is the best thing if Zombies where to come in real life, think about it. you can decapitate them with it, break open boxes and doors and they are fairly light so you can swing em around
