I was recording a part of on of my guides, and I really liked the way it came out, however audacity decided to crash (Which is does A LOT) and now my only option is to record post commentary, which would not be as good as my original commentary. So I was hoping there would be a way to get back the file since it crashed after I was done recording. Thanks for any help.

Assuming you're using the stable 1.2 release, it defaults to:

C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\Temp\audacity_1_2_temp

You can double-check for sure by going to Edit --> Preferences and clicking the Directories tab.

It can be hard to recover them manually though, iirc it breaks them up into like 10-second files.

Thanks you so much! I really appreciate it, I was not looking forward to post commentary. I don't know if you heard of this: http://www.mesw.de/audacity/recovery/ but it works great, you should try it if this ever happens to you (assuming you haven't) Once again, thank you very much.
