It has been discussed quite a bit recently, and I wanted other people's opinions on this.

Personally, I don't think it's really that racist, just a bit stereotyphical. It's no more racist then other movies like it.

The Film isn't racist, but it exposes Racism.  But this racism is left there, because of the films Ties with "Dances with Wolves", which has the same theme.

One could argue that Lord of the Rings is racist.  But it's not, even though there are racist themes.

Racism is far too tossed around this days. LOTR and Avatar are not racist, it is just people being too overly critical and attempting to be intelligent by foiling a plan that never existed.

While I agree about LOTR, I do think there is at least the exploration of racism in Avatar. The entire conflict of the movie is caused by the belief that the Na'vi are savages who are unwilling and unable to become civilized according to the invading forces definition of the word. Pretty much mirrors the expansion of U.S. territory into Native American lands(a bit heavy-handedly, but that's a discussion for another time). I think that people throw around the word racist too much too, but in this case it at least warrants a discussion or at least a mention.

Well, actually, there is racism in the Film.  But what is not present is a statement that brings Racism to the audience.

Reallly?  Because the Humans, and the whatchamacallits absolutely despise eachother.  And most of the time neither are willing to give any elbow room.

The film is against racism, though it has racism, the film make it look like a bad thing. The whole idea of the movie is for you to see the humas as the bad guys, just like District 9... it brings the human mistakes and defects and put them right in front of you...
