1  Discussion / Other Discussion / Re: What do you think of them? on: March 26, 2011, 05:04:44 AM
Jeez, people can sure be real pathetic. Why bring war into this? The United States has been at war with numerous countries throughout history, but that doesn't suddenly mean that just because we were at war with a country in the past doesn't mean we get to laugh at them when they suffer. Think about it, the United States was at war with itself in the past, but we don't laugh at ourselves when some sort of natural disaster causes massive damage to the country.

Regardless, Japan may have bombed us in the past, and we may have bombed them back, but that doesn't mean Japan is a hateful country. Japan is an awesome country that supplies half of the electronic supplies that you've come to use today. The United States has a good thing going with Japan, and when they are in a time of disaster, we try to help them just like they'd help us if we were to fall under a disaster.

So, don't bring World War II into a serious discussion like this, because it truly is pathetic.

So you're saying an rpg is about making decision and such. But zelda don't make you make the decision, the NPC makes the decision. You're kind of talking about what you do change the game which really dosen't in Zelda. Zelda is a world map and saving the princess, that's ADVENTURE game. You're not making any story and Link don't have any development as a character. He's the silent protagonist which is also very popular in rpg.

Does every rpg have to have puzzle? I played rpg that don't even have puzzle before, at least I think so.And a detailed story could just mean a detailed story. I think Metal Gear Solid have a amazing story but I would not call it a RPG, I would call it a stealthy adventure game.

And yes, rpg don't need to be turn based. There is MANY different types like strategy or real time combat. Which goes back to what I said before, it's all related to status. Name me a strategy game with no status or a Turn based with no status. Real time games could be confusing because some have status and some don't.

I'll leave it at that.

Well duh, of course NPCs are gonna make decisions, but you can still make decisions as well. You know games with altnernate endings? Yeah, well those revolve around what decisions you make.

Every game has an adventure. Does that make them all adventure games? No. An adventure is a plot for a game, and it is not what determines what genre the game is. The gameplay itself is what determines what genre it is. A game with like Zelda isn't an adventure game.

You may not think that Zelda shows development in the main character, but technically, it does. Take Twilight Princess for example. Link starts off as a boy simply doing his work around his village, but as the game progresses, he becomes a hero and helps the save his village from falling into twilight. THAT's what I mean by character development.

No, not every RPG has to have a puzzle. Most do, but it is not required.

A detailed story is not decides what genre a game is either. However, RPGs are SUPPOSED to have detailed stories. Yeah, other video games can have plenty of detailed stories, but an RPG in specific is definitely supposed to. Of course, the plot could always be "save the princess" or "kill the dragon", but RPGs usually end up having very detailed stories.

I don't understand what you mean by "name a game with no status". Makes no sense to me.

Guys, Zelda IS a role playing game. It may not seem like it, but it actually is.

A role-playing game is a video game in which you play as a character in some sort of make-believe world in which you decide the decisions your character takes and decide what actions your character should do. An RPG is supposed to have a story where throughout the game, the video game character your playing as develops into some sort of maturity. Basically, when they say a "role" playing game, they truly mean your playing the roles of a character, as if it were a play.

Now, you could say "Well, wouldn't that make a lot of other various games an RPG?". The answer is no. In an RPG, it's not like you're trying to get from point A to point B (well, you do travel in the games, but that's not what I'm getting at) and it doesn't involve killing this enemy to advance to the next world of the game. RPGs involve puzzles and detailed stories that help develop the game's gameplay as an RPG.

Most RPG games have some sort of turn-by-turn battle systems, such as Final Fantasy, Paper Mario, Earthbound, Pokemon, and Fire Emblem. However, games DO NOT have to have a turn-by-turn system, and the Zelda franchise is another good example of that. Other video games work similar to Zelda. I obviously can't name them off the top of my head, but surely you can google some and find lots of lists.

THAT is what an RPG is.

Quality seems great to me! I'm not one to speak about quality, but it seems to me like you got the quality right. Like Ashfire said, make the video fill the screen, as it'll (most of the time) make your video look much better.
7  Welcome / Announcements / Re: Win a Nintendo Wii! on: July 02, 2010, 04:56:04 PM
I'm not trying to advertise, but you guys in the raffle can get some/more credits! For anyone who wants 1002 credits (which is about 1/4 of how much a ticket costs for this raffle), I have a request for Mario Golf! A nice easy game for lots of credits.

I decided that I'm not gonna enter the raffle any more, but rather complete requests and make more requests so you guys can get some credits (and I don't really need a second Wii anyway). !

Hm... I already have a Wii, but seeing as though my current Wii has hacking and all this Homebrew stuff on it, I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a back-up  Wink

I hardly have any credits at the moment. I'm gonna go see some requests. If nothing catches my attention then I'll look into donating. This'll be quite a competitive raffle.
