Title: Elgato 4k60 - Mac?
Post by: bc94xyzGA on October 21, 2017, 03:45:06 PM
Hi guys. I know that Elgato is releasing a 4k60 for PC users but does anyone know if a Mac version device will be released? Really hoping the answer is yes.

I highly doubt it as the only real MAC computers that could use it would be ridiculously expensive. The card is an internal capture card that uses the PCIe slot on the motherboard, and the only Macs that have that are the desktops.

Well I mean do you think a Mac version will come out in terms of external device? Like I currently use an HD60 that I connect with a USB. I highly doubt a 4k60 would be made to put literally into the computer for mac. That makes no sense. An external device is what I think is more reasonable.

We probably won't get an external version of the 4K60 for quite a long time. Unless Elgato finds a way to get the necessary power to the thing while being external. It's possible, but I don't see it for a while. Also it seems you've misunderstood me. I was saying that the only way to use the new 4K60 is gonna be to put it in a PCIe slot, which only desktops have.
